Estate Planning Attorney Mentorship Program

Are you new to the estate planning practice area?

Do you feel excited and called to help people plan their estates but you do not have enough hours of experience in the field?

Are you looking for guidance and direction as to how to build your estate planning practice because you know that there is a need in the marketplace and you want to help people plan their legacy?

Are you looking for an experienced attorney to mentor you but haven’t been able to find one willing to help or the right fit?

Maybe you’re concerned about malpractice because you don’t know what you don’t know and need real time assistance to make sure you are not inadvertently stepping into legal and/or ethical minefields?

If you answered yes to any of the above then Kristina’s Mentorship Program may be just what you need!

Hi I’m Kristina R. Hess, a Berkeley trained lawyer who has been running her own estate planning firm since 2009. It’s not easy to go out on your own and build a successful practice but with the right commitment, drive, resources and team it can be done! You really can build a legal firm that you love, that is rewarding to your soul and your pocket book.

A successful practice must incorporate the following.

  1. Client service excellence — you and your client services team must care about your clients, be responsive and deliver excellent planning documents and care in service.
  2. Technical mastery — you must become an expert in estate planning or at least highly proficient. Some of this will only come with experience, continuing education, and by being taught by others.
  1. Marketing and business development — consistent and effective marketing is required to keep your pipeline of new clients coming, especially in the beginning before you have a pool of client referrals and professional network referrals. You must also be able to close on your client leads
  2. Leadership and management — you will need to be able to manage your team and your practice until you can hire others to assist.

When I graduated from law school I worked at large international firms doing litigation. We had senior associates and partners to help guide the new lawyers. Yet. when I started my estate planning firm I had help with marketing and operational systems but no help with the attorney mentorship. I tried to find people to help but the best I could find were courses and symposiums. I needed more guidance. Don’t get me wrong, I’m super grateful for the help I did find because without it I wouldn’t have been able to build my practice to what it is today! But a lot of the estate planning experience I had to learn on my own.

For this reason, as I now enter my 27th year as an attorney and having built a successful practice (by God’s good grace!) I want to give back and help the next generation of estate planning attorneys learn the tools of the trade! I’m a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trusts and Probate Law with the California State Bar and have helped hundreds of people and families plan their estates, do advanced planning, trusts and estate administration and probates.

If you are ready to grow your estate planning practice but need some attorney guidance and mentorship, I invite you to apply to my program:

  1. You must be committed and willing to take direction and guidance
  2. You must be motivated to succeed
  3. You must commit to at least a 6 month program.
